Stuck in Love (2012), also titled A Place for Me
Starring: Greg Kinnear, Lily Collins and Jennifer Connelly
Whether or not you like a movie or you dislike a movie
greatly depends on your emotional state. I’ve felt confused, almost deranged in
life and that’s when I need a fictional tale that can make me believe that
sometimes, as the old saying goes, there can be light at the end of a tunnel. Stuck in Love did not make me feel like
everything will eventually fall in place, but that it may turn out to be a little better if we tried to understand
each other.
William Borgeans (Greg Kinner) is a well published author, and like any novelist, has always wanted his kids to read and write. When his wife leaves him for another man, he is not able to deal with it easily and he hasn't been writing since he was estranged. Meanwhile, he is also dealing with the complexities of raising his two teenage children, who are very different in character. Rusty (Nat Wolff), a Stephen King aficionado is a shy high school boy who has trouble talking to girls. He seems to be the boy next door (like in most High School flicks) who falls for a beautiful girl, who he thinks is out of his league since she is already dating someone who seems like a basketball playing douchebag. Yes, I was not a very popular kid in school (or now). Samantha (Lily Collins) is a strong writer, whose book is soon to be published. She wants to create her own identity and has strong, almost rigid views about the sagacity of life. She puts a wall around herself because she is too afraid to admit that she is afraid that someone will end up hurting her.
It's an aspiring story that throws in your face the harsh reality - that there are no rewrites in life. Just a bunch of second chances. So don't judge and let go too easily.
